Crafty Catz Anything Goes with a Twist of Red

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Blogging Buddies and Followers, how are you all this week? Well what a week I've had, my son had 'man flu' and spread his germs everywhere, needless to say with my low immune, I again picked up something similar and been feeling yucky, just typical! :(   To top it off the laptop I've been using, decided to come out in sympathy and stopped working for a few days, thankfully my Hubby, finally managed to get it up and running! :) Didn't want it to end up like my PC did a few months back!  Here's hoping that next week will be better and go without a hitch... everything crossed :p

But first of all it's Friday again and that means a new challenge from us over at Crafty Catz

Our theme this week is
'Anything Goes'
with a twist of
'Red'

Sponsoring this week is
Offering a prize of 3 Images of the Winners choice

The image I chose to work with for my DT inspiration is this fab 'Santa'... here is what I created, hope you like it?
My Project

On a 6x6 white card blank, I matt and layered red mirror and centura pearl (after embossing and punching corners) card, along with a border of velvet and organza ribbons, with bow. I printed out the image in red for a change and instead of colouring, I added glitter jewels to highlight the white fur. To decorate, I added die cut vellum poinsettia and both mirror and centura pearl pine leaves with brad. Finishing off with die cut 'Merry Christmas' sentiment.

Lest We Forget ...

Hi my Blogging Buddies, Crafty Friends and Followers, I'm going to share with you a little extra card that I created with this being 'Remembrance' week. I have a few ancestors that fought and died in both World Wars. Thankfully both my Grandfather's survived WW2, but one my Grandfather's brother Alex, never made it home, this is him pictured below.

I will be wearing my poppy with pride for all who died and survived!!

Without further ado, here is what I created using images from both Julia Spiri's Poppy Collection and Steampunk Collection.

My Project
Products Used
Julia Spiri - Poppy Collection Image and Steampunk Collection Image
Crafter's Companion - Watercolour Card
Britannia - Soldier Die
Spellbinders - Cross Die
Woodware - Corner Punch
Ranger - Worn Lipstick Distress Stickles
From My Stash - Plain paper to make background, Brown and Red Satin Card.

I created this by matt and layering brown satin card with background paper made using clip art images from the Steampunk Collection, that reminded me of the sky. I tweaked the colour to use sepia tones, which I thought worked better.  The poppy wreath made using duplicate clip art image from the Poppy Collection. On this I placed a die cut Soldier, then added sentiment banner made on word doc and layered with matching brown satin card. I finished off by decorating with brown satin card die cut cross. The centre looked like a poppy so I die cut a duplicate in red satin and cut to fit...works well ... doesn't it???

Optional Twist of Try A Different Colour Medium at Julia Spiri Challenge

Hello my wonderful Friends, Blogging Buddies and Followers! A big 'HELLO' to my new followers too, thanks so much for joining my Krafty Little World, I hope you enjoy your stay!

Hope you all had a lovely 'Halloween' weekend, I'm glad it's over now, though I do enjoy seeing all the little kids dress up, most are really fab, but more and more 'older' ones are not bothering and expect a 'treat' or better still cash!.

Well thankfully it's a new month, and that means the start of a new challenge over at

Our theme as always is
'Anything Goes'
but we have a fab optional twist of
'Try a Different Colour Medium'

Now this was fun to do as I'm so stuck in my ways using my fave Promakers and Copics. It was so great to use my different inks and other pens instead...You should give it a go, very therapeutic too!!

For my DT inspiration, I have used Georgie Pirate, from the Pirates Collection. Isn't she adorable?! For more wonderful images and challenge details etc, please follow the links at the bottom of the page!! And here is what I created -
My Project
Products Used
Julia Spiri - 'Georgie Pirate' Image
Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Tea Dye, Squeezed Lemonade and Festive Berries
Versa Color - Copper, Petal Pink, Sand Beige and Sage
ColorBox - Pigment Frost White, Old Rose and Black and Chalk Warm Red
Gel Pens - Various Colours of Glitter and Gel
PanPastel - Turquoise
DecoArt - Crystal Glamour Dust Glitter
Crafter's Companion -Watercolour Card
Rusty Pickle - 12x12 'Aye Aye Cap'n Papers, Cut out Topper and Cap'n Jack Pickle Trims Ribbon Border and Pompom
Creata - Brown Mirror Card
Marianne - Lighthouse and Anchor Dies
Docrafts - Gold Adhesive Gems
From My Stash - Brown Silky Card, Flowers and Key Charm. Palm Tree Topper I found on the internet.

I remembered that I had some mix and match 'Pirate' craft stash, so looked this out and used to create my card. I started with a matt and layer of  'Aye Aye Cap'n' paper and brown silky card. Adding the matching trim border. I found this fab palm tree and island image on the internet, which I downloaded and printed onto watercolour card, then layering on the same brown silky card. I carefully cut out one of the scroll images from the 12x12 papers and used as a sentiment topper. The image I printed and coloured with coordinating various ink pads such as distress dye, pigment and chalk inks. What a change from using my normal favourite Promarkers/Copics , well you know what they say ... 'a change is as good as a rest'! I also used various gel and glitter pens too for added effect!. I carefully cut the image out and placed as shown. To decorate, I added die cut lighthouse and anchor using brown silky and mirror card, flower made up from my stash and pompom from 'Cap'n Jack' trims, with adhesive gold domes and key charm to finish.
